A number of midget or mini-vegetables are especially suited to container gardening. Some of the most popular varieties include Dwarf Morden cabbage. Little Finger carrot. Golden Midget corn, Little Minnie cucumber, Morden Midget eggplant, Tom Thumb lettuce and Golden Midget watermelon.
In addition, a number of tomato varieties do particularly well in containers: Tiny Tim, Small Fry, Burpee Pixie Hybrid, Presto Hybrid, Patio Hybrid and others.
Many catalogs now have special sections devoted to mini vegetables. Chapter 13 of this book contains descriptions of the special properties of thousands of different kinds of seeds.
