Breeding club

An association of amateur plant breeders who are motivated primarily by the desire for pure food that is free from pesticides . Because it is durable resistance, and is the easiest resistance to work with, most breeding clubs will work with horizontal resistance, using recurrent mass selection in order to increase the levels of quantitative horizontal resistance sufficiently to control all locally important parasites of the crop in question. On-site selection is important if the new cultivar are to be in balance with the local agro-ecosystem.
