Design goes from the general to the specific. Whether you end up with a formal set of plan drawings or not, the first step in the design process is to write down, in a very informal way, the general ideas you've had during your site analysis and initial design work, which I cover in Chapters 4 and 5. The second step is to take your design outside, where you mark it all out on the ground to get a feeling for how it'll look when you do it for real. In this section, I introduce you to bubble diagrams and field design.
