Family Oxalidaceae

Oxyria digyna (L.) Hill.

Habitat ► Temperate Himalayas from Kashmir to Sikkim from 2,500 to 4,000 m and Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu.

English ► Common Wood-Sorrel.

Ayurvedic ► Chaangeri (related species).

Folk ► Tinpatiyaa, Amrul.

Action ► Diuretic and refrigerant. Used for urinary affections and fevers. (Sorrel is equated with Rumex acetosa Linn.)

Aerial parts gave 2"-O-(beta-D-glu-copyranosyl) isovitexin. The whole flowering plant contains 0.3-1.25% oxalic acid (high in fresh leaves and roots).
