Plenty of power tools are designed to make certain gardening chores faster and easier, but go easy on purchasing many of these. For small gardens, they can be overkill, and many of these tools are noisy, which can really detract from what's supposed to be a relaxing and quiet pursuit.

Just be sure not to buy something too big for the job — the purchase could end being too expensive and too daunting. (For information on lawn mowers, see Chapter 10.)
