Ryania and sabadilla are botanical pesticides historically used by organic gardeners to control a variety of insects. Because of their toxicity to beneficial insects, fish, birds, and mammals, these pesticides are becoming increasingly hard to find.
Seek other pest controls before resorting to these substances. Rotenone was once a popular organic insecticide, but because of its extreme toxicity to fish, it has fallen out of favor. Although it may be available from garden and farm suppliers, no rotenone products are approved for organic production.
