Scrub all containers thoroughly before and after use so they are completely clean and all possible sources of infection are eradicated. Remove all crusty layers of soil or chemicals on the sides of containers. Clay pots should also be soaked to ensure they are clean.
1 Dip leafy cuttings in a dilute solution of fungicide, such as Captan or Benlate, to prevent disease.
2 Fill a pot with compost. Dibble in a cutting. Then drench the compost with a dilute solution of fungicide.
Spray seedlings that have recently germinated with Captan or a copper fungicide.
