I am enclosing before and after photos of a summer project we tackled last year. We put off doing the project for 10 years, as other jobs took priority on our smallholding, on which we keep ponies, sheep, goats, a pig, ducks and hens. However, we finally finished our water feature, and as you can see, it gets the seal of approval from one of our ducks.
The water for the feature comes from rainwater from the roof of our cottage, at the end of which we discovered an old stone stile that was then added to our rockery.
I hope this gives Kitchen Garden readers inspiration to tackle some jobs they have been putting off and go for it in 2006. Our projects for this year are to produce some more deep beds and add a conservatory to the back of the cottage.
We enjoy your magazine and hope to put lots of your advice and tips into practice, now the growing season is upon us. Mrs Sue Sullivan, Peel, Isle of Man
