This is one ol the most delicate and pretty of all half-hardy annuals. It forms a bushy plant with light green deeply-divided foliage. The small, dainty, lavender-blue flowers are displayed in heads 2 5-5cm [1-2in) wide and appear from mid-summer to autumn They are suitable tor cutting tor home decoration, but the leaves and stems are sticky to touch. Height: 45cm (1jyt) Spread: 25-30cm (10-12m) Cultivation: Ordinary well-cultivated garden soil and a sunny, sheltered position suit it.

Propagation: Ounng late winter and early sprmg, sow seeds 3mm (%in) deep in trays of loam oased seed compost at 16°C (61°F). When the seedlings are large enough to handle, pnck them out into small pots or boxes of seed compost. Plant the young plants out into the garden as soon as all risk of frost has passed
